Shock grizzly bear assault prompts closure of a mountain in Grand Teton


MOOSE, Wyo. — A grizzly bear attacked and critically injured a person in western Wyoming’s Grand Teton Nationwide Park, prompting closure of a mountain there Monday.

The grizzly was considered one of two that stunned the 35-year-old man from Massachusetts on Sunday afternoon on Sign Mountain.

Rescuers flew the injured man by helicopter to an ambulance that drove him to a close-by hospital.

He was anticipated to get well, park officers mentioned in an announcement, declining to establish him.

The assertion didn’t element the person’s accidents or say how he encountered the bear. Park officers closed a path and the street to an overlook atop the 7,700-foot (2,300-meter) mountain.

The assault occurred as Grand Teton and close by Yellowstone Nationwide Park start their busy summer season vacationer season.

A number of such assaults happen every year because the area’s grizzly inhabitants has grown. Park officers urge folks to present bears loads of area, carry bear spray and keep away from leaving out meals that may appeal to bears.
