Pissed off by the usually laddish environment in skateparks, skate fanatic Milo Turnley set about organising an evening for trans skate boarders, curler skaters and wheelchair customers. Based in August 2023, Transkaters takes place on the second Friday of every month at Baysixty6 in west London, the place photographer Eliza Hatch took these portraits of these in attendance. “As a skater myself, it instantly caught my consideration – skate nights that cater to girls, queer folks or any marginalised group are few and much between,” says Hatch. “Trans persons are a minority who expertise an awesome quantity of harassment and abuse, and who deserve to have the ability to take part in sports activities with out worry or threat to private security. At Transkaters, the environment is extremely heat, supportive and joyful, and I wished to spotlight that.”
