Whether or not clustered in grids throughout rolling hills or nestled up near hedges, cellular properties are the topic of Dorset photographer Jethro Marshall’s newest e book, Prefab Scout. Shot out of season alongside the Jurassic Coast in south-west England, the properties are captured free of individuals and their belongings, revealing modernist types which are, Marshall says, “equal components regimented Soviet, free-living American and British kitsch”. The sequence is a part of a wider challenge documenting the on a regular basis character of the south-west. For Marshall, it was additionally an opportunity to revisit his childhood by grownup eyes. “As a child, our household holidays have been usually six miles west to Devon. That is about appreciating the fashionable, functioning countryside.”
