US Air Power Academy cadet, 19, discovered useless in dorm room


The U.S. Air Power Academy in Colorado has launched an investigation after a 19-year-old cadet was discovered useless in her dorm room this week. 

Cadet 4th Class Avery Koonce, 19, of Taylor, Texas, was “discovered unconscious in her dormitory” on Wednesday evening and tried life-saving measures by first responders have been unsuccessful, the Academy mentioned in an announcement. Koonce was set to graduate in 2028 and was a member of the ladies’s observe and subject group. 

“We misplaced an unimaginable teammate… Whereas solely with us for a short while, Avery positively impacted her unit, her intercollegiate group, and her class – her loss can be felt throughout USAFA,” Academy Superintendent Lt Gen Tony Bauernfeind mentioned. “Our group is targeted on offering help to Avery’s household, Cadet Squadron 38, the Observe and Subject group, and your entire Academy household.”

U.S. Rep. Pete Periods, who nominated Koonce to attend the U.S. Air Power Academy exterior of Colorado Springs, additionally advised the Austin American-Statesman that he was “extremely saddened to listen to concerning the lack of Cadet Koonce.”
