A federal appeals court docket panel on Thursday rejected longtime Donald Trump ally Steve Bannon’s bid to remain out of jail whereas he fights his conviction for defying a subpoena from the Home committee that investigated the U.S. Capitol assault.
Bannon is meant to report back to jail by July 1 to start serving his four-month sentence for contempt of Congress.
U.S. District Choose Carl Nichols, who was nominated to the bench by Trump, earlier this month granted prosecutors’ request to ship Bannon to jail after a three-judge panel of the U.S. Courtroom of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit upheld his conviction.
Bannon’s attorneys had requested the appeals court docket to permit him to stay free whereas he continues to struggle the conviction all the way in which as much as the Supreme Courtroom, if essential.
