S7, Ep5: David Harewood, actor

Becoming a member of Grace this week is actor and director David Harewood, who discovered world fame within the hit CIA-thriller Homeland 13 years in the past and hasn’t stopped working since. David was born and raised in Small Heath, Birmingham, the place he lived along with his older siblings and Barbadian dad and mom. He tells Grace about how his mum stored the flavours of the West Indies alive in his childhood dwelling, whereas he navigated the racist world of Seventies Britain rising up as a younger black boy. Sitting down over his favorite consolation meals, David talks about how messing about in class led to the ‘lightbulb second’ when he realised he wished to be an actor; arriving in 80s London to attend Rada and discovering the joy of ‘filthy’ Soho; and the underrated wonders of corned beef
