The Magistrates Affiliation has urged Ministers to deliver personal prosecutions on a par with the work of the Crown Prosecution Service, with an unbiased watchdog overseeing its work, a “statutory” requirement to maintain all circumstances underneath fixed assessment, and making it necessary to evaluate a defendant’s vulnerability.
