‘Repurposing’ present medication to deal with dementia an ‘pressing precedence’ – consultants

Commenting, Dr Richard Oakley, affiliate director of analysis and innovation at Alzheimer’s Society, stated: “If we are able to repurpose medication which have already been proven to be secure and accepted to be used for different situations, this might save hundreds of thousands of kilos and many years it takes to develop a brand new dementia drug from scratch, and get us nearer to beating dementia.
