A Delta plane caught on hearth on the tarmac on the Orlando worldwide airport on Monday morning, forcing frightened passengers to evacuate the jet through slides.
The Delta flight, which was headed for Atlanta, Georgia, had left its gate at about 11.15am ET when one of many plane’s engines caught hearth, in response to a press release from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Video of the plane posted to social media reveals flames and smoke popping out of the again of the airplane’s engine. Workers on the runway helped usher passengers off the plane, as seen in later video.
These aboard the aircraft, together with 282 passengers, 10 flight attendants and two pilots, had been evacuated and brought to the airport’s terminal constructing.
The hearth was contained and put out, the FAA confirmed. No accidents had been reported.
“Delta flight crews adopted procedures to evacuate the passenger cabin when flames within the tailpipe of one of many plane’s two engines had been noticed,” the airline stated in a press release.
Delta added that upkeep crew would study the aircraft to grasp what initially brought on the hearth, ABC Information reported.
The most recent emergency evacuation comes after a number of high-profile incidents involving airplanes at US airports.
