Mike Johnson Speaker of the Home vote reside updates: Johnson elected speaker after holdouts flip


Speaker of the Home Mike Johnson was elected Speaker of the Home for the 119th Congress after two GOP holdouts determined to alter their votes earlier than the second spherical of voting was set to start.

Reps. Ralph Norman (R-SC) and Keith Self (R-Texas) modified their votes after having initially voted for different candidates, leaving the Louisiana rep two votes wanting clinching the speakership.

With 434 lawmakers in attendance, the edge for Johnson to be elected Speaker of the Home was 218.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) was the only real no vote.
