Harry Potter writer JK Rowling seems to have criticised the three main actors of the eight-film franchise in a publish on social media.
Rowling was responding to a publish that requested: “What actor/actress immediately ruins a film for you?” She wrote: “Three guesses. Sorry, however that was irresistible,” including three laughing emojis.
Though the targets of the comment usually are not explicitly acknowledged, she seems to be referring to Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, who performed Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley between 2001 and 2011, and with whom Rowling spectacularly fell out in 2020 after she revealed an essay about surviving sexual assault during which she referred to as transgender identification “deeply misogynistic and regressive”.
All three actors responded to the essay with statements supportive of trans rights. Radcliffe mentioned: “Transgender girls are girls. Any assertion on the contrary erases the identification and dignity of transgender folks.” Watson, in a message on social media, mentioned: “Trans individuals are who they are saying they’re and should stay their lives with out being continuously questioned.”
Ralph Fiennes, who performed Voldemort, subsequently supplied assist to Rowling in an interview within the Telegraph, saying that “the verbal abuse directed at her is disgusting”, whereas Helena Bonham Carter, who performed Bellatrix Lestrange, advised the Occasions: “It’s been taken to the acute, the judgmentalism of individuals.
