New York is not going to honor a request from Louisiana to extradite a physician who prescribed abortion treatment, Gov. Kathy Hochul introduced Thursday.
Hochul, seated behind her desk in her Manhattan workplace, held up a duplicate of Louisiana’s order and stated she’d refuse to conform.
“I can’t be signing an extradition order that got here from the governor of Louisiana. Not now. Not ever,” Hochul stated.
Hochul stated the request runs counter to defend legal guidelines in New York meant to guard abortion suppliers from dealing with prosecution for treating sufferers in different states the place the observe is not authorized.
