When Donald Trump entered the White Home in 2017, he got here with a staff of veteran Republicans, typical politicians and celebrated generals, in addition to the odd Trump ideologue or member of the family.

As Guardian US political correspondent Lauren Gambino explains to Michael Safi, it was usually a foul match – marked by a report churn of senior employees.

This week, as Trump once more prepares a cupboard for workplace, he’s doing issues otherwise, valuing loyalty above all, and – from the Division of Defence to Justice to Homeland Safety – nominating a sequence of maximum figures for his subsequent authorities.

Will the Republican-controlled Senate nonetheless wave them by means of? And what impact will the appointments have on Trump’s 4 years in energy if it does?
