West Virginia’s controversial Democratic US senator Joe Manchin says he is not going to search re-election in 2024 and can as an alternative ‘battle to unite’.
‘After months of deliberation and lengthy conversations with my household, I imagine in my coronary heart of hearts that I’ve achieved what I got down to do for West Virginia,’ the senator mentioned. Manchin’s choice to step down will jeopardise the Democrats’ slim 51-49 majority within the Senate.
Manchin mentioned he would as an alternative be travelling throughout the US to ‘mobilise the center’ as he denounced polarisation in US politics.
