Orangutans ‘could make two sounds on the similar time, much like human beatboxing’.

In keeping with the findings, male orangutans produce noises often called chomps, along with grumbles, whereas females produce kiss squeak sounds similtaneously rolling calls.

Dr Adriano Lameira from the College of Warwick and lead creator of the research, explains what clues this provides us by way of language evolution.
