Sen. Peter Welch turned the primary Democratic member of the higher chamber to name on President Biden to drop his re-election bid Wednesday night time, writing that he “can not unsee” the 81-year-old’s disastrous June 27 debate efficiency towards Donald Trump
“I, like of us throughout the nation, am nervous about November’s election,” Welch (D-Vt.) wrote in a Washington Publish op-ed. “The stakes couldn’t be greater. We can not unsee President Biden’s disastrous debate efficiency. We can not ignore or dismiss the legitimate questions raised since that night time.”
“I perceive why President Biden desires to run,” added Welch, 77. “He saved us from Donald Trump as soon as and desires to do it once more. However he must reassess whether or not he’s the very best candidate to take action. In my opinion, he isn’t.
“For the great of the nation, I’m calling on President Biden to withdraw from the race.”
Welch joins 9 Home Democrats who’ve demanded that Biden drop out of the race: Lloyd Doggett of Texas, Raul Grijalva of Arizona, Seth Moulton of Massachusetts, Mike Quigley of Illinois, Angie Craig of Minnesota, Adam Smith of Washington, Mikie Sherrill of New Jersey, Pat Ryan of New York and Earl Blumenauer of Oregon.
