Ukraine’s combat for funds to maintain Russia at bay – podcast

On the face of it, help for Ukraine from its allies in Europe and the US has been unwavering: ministers and officers fly out and in of Kyiv to again Volodymyr Zelenskiy and his authorities’s grinding combat to maintain Russian troops at bay.

However that ethical help is extra stable than the monetary backing. As Dan Sabbagh tells Hannah Moore, funding packages value tens of billions of kilos have been held up within the US Congress by Republican politicians, and within the EU by Hungary’s prime minister, Victor Orbán.

As Luke Harding stories from Kyiv, Ukraine is holding on in opposition to a Russian military that seems to haven’t any limits on the boys and equipment it’s prepared to sacrifice in Ukraine. Whereas EU accession talks for Ukraine could also be welcome, any interruption to funding in Kyiv may have an effect on its means to match the Russian enemy – and will show deadly.
