Tory hopeful Liz Truss ‘wouldn’t’ abolish abortion in Northern Eire


Abortion legal guidelines within the area have been liberalised in 2019 in legal guidelines handed by Westminster at a time when the power-sharing authorities at Stormont had collapsed.

Throughout a Conservative Get together management hustings occasion on the Culloden Lodge on the outskirts of Belfast, Ms Truss was requested if she would abolish abortion in Northern Eire, “ending infanticide”, or let the individuals of the area have their say on the problem.

She responded to applause: “I’m afraid I don’t agree with you.

“We’re a United Kingdom and we’d like all of our legal guidelines to use proper throughout the UK – that’s what being a union is.”
