The location, now residence to St Patrick’s Church of Eire Cathedral, was as soon as a part of the land often called the Hill of the Sallows, which belonged to native chieftain Daire mac Fiachna, who initially refused Patrick’s request however later granted it to him – an act which is described as laying the foundations of Eire’s Christian heritage.
