North Korea artillery drills violated long-established buffer zones, South Korea claims

South Korea is claiming North Korean artillery drills have invalidated long-established buffer zones.

The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Employees introduced Monday that it’s going to resume drills within the space in response to the North Korean artillery bombardment, saying the restrictions on the zone “now not exist.”

An settlement in 2018 between Seoul and Pyongyang established the buffer zones as a prohibited space for artillery fireplace or army drills.

Earlier this month, the North Korean army initiated a multiday bombardment of the border area with tons of of artillery rounds in a collection of army drills.

South Korean intelligence estimates roughly 200 shells fired into the world on Friday and an extra 60 on Saturday.

The South Korean Protection Ministry reportedly fired roughly 400 rounds in response to the provocation.

“We gravely warn that all the duty of such crisis-escalating conditions lies with North Korea and strongly name for its instant halt,” South Korean Joint Chiefs of Employees spokesman Col. Lee Sung-jun mentioned at a press convention in the course of the artillery fireplace.

The western sea border between North Korean and South Korean territory has been the location of a number of skirmishes because the finish of the Korean Warfare. 

Naval fight broke out briefly in 1999, 2022 and 2009.
