Nigel Dodds confirms he’ll step down as DUP deputy chief after subsequent election

igel Dodds has confirmed that he’ll step down as DUP deputy chief after the subsequent election.

The previous MP for North Belfast was elevated to the Home of Lords after dropping his seat on the 2019 election, and can proceed within the position.

In an announcement late on Tuesday evening, he stated: “Following my appointment to the Home of Lords I made a decision that I’d be stepping again from my celebration position each time the subsequent inner election cycle occurred.

“Since, underneath the celebration guidelines, Friends will not be even a part of the celebration’s electoral school for management positions, it might be incongruous and inappropriate to do in any other case.

“Nevertheless I’ll proceed to make use of my place in Parliament to advance the reason for the Union and to articulate the views of unionists on the long run path of the United Kingdom and on points affecting Northern Eire extra typically.”
