father has scaled the UK’s highest peak carrying a 100kg barbell to boost cash for analysis into motor neurone illness.
David Dooher set off at 7pm on Wednesday, the day he turned 38, from the Ben Nevis Inn and reached the 4,406ft summit early on Thursday afternoon.
He undertook the problem to boost cash for the My Identify’5 Doddie Basis, launched in 2017 by Doddie Weir. Weir died final November aged 52 after a six-year battle with motor neurone illness (MND).
Mr Dooher stated the barbell, just like the burden of an enormous panda, represents “the burden carried by those that dwell with MND, and their households”.
After reaching the summit of Ben Nevis, Mr Dooher, a member of Police Scotland’s mountain rescue staff, stated: “It feels wonderful to be completed – very sore and tiring – however wonderful.
