Large iceberg breaks off from shelf in Antarctica – video


Aerial video launched on 26 February reveals an enormous iceberg has separated from the Brunt Ice Shelf in Antarctica, nearly 10 years after scientists first found cracks.

The berg has been in contrast in dimension to the English county of Bedfordshire, measuring 1,270 sq km, based on the British Antarctic Survey (BAS).

Scientists had been anticipating the calving of the iceberg to occur, after day by day monitoring of the realm with GPS devices and satellite tv for pc imagery, the BAS’s director, Prof Dame Jane Francis, stated
