The European Council agreed to grant candidate standing to Ukraine and Moldova throughout a EU summit on Thursday. The information was damaged by Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel.
“European Council has granted the standing of candidate nation to Ukraine and Moldova. Historic second and a sign of hope for the Ukranian (sic) folks,” Bettel tweeted.
Earlier within the day, the European Parliament overwhelmingly backed a proposal to grant EU candidate standing to Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia. Final week, Kiev’s bid was supported by the EU Fee.
