ohn Herron has left Larne Soccer Membership “by mutual consent” after he was pictured carrying a T-shirt bearing the slogan “Up The Ra”.

The 28-year-old, who’s initially from North Lanarkshire, turned the main focus of criticism after {a photograph} emerged on social media of him carrying the T-shirt at a Wolfe Tones gig at Feile An Phobail in west Belfast on August 14.

The membership introduced the following day that Herron had been suspended whereas an investigation was carried out.

Herron additionally acquired a 10-game ban from the Irish Soccer Affiliation.

The historic republican slogan is contentious because it has denoted help for the Provisional IRA previously.

In a press release on Monday evening, Larne Soccer Membership mentioned: “We will affirm John Herron has left the membership, after his contract was terminated by mutual settlement.

“We wish to take this chance to reiterate our complete dedication to being an inclusive soccer membership.

“We’ll proceed to be unwavering in our work to make Inver Park a spot for all and won’t permit this to be undermined in any manner, form or type.
