Round 40 firefighters have been battling a big fireplace at a property on Whitehorse Street, the London Hearth Brigade stated on Wednesday.
Footage of the scene reveals two condominium balconies fully engulfed in flames, with black smoke billowing in direction of the sky.
Separate footage posted on social media reveals an extended line of visitors stretching down Whitehorse Street.
The London Hearth Brigade stated in an announcement: “Eight fireplace engines and round 40 firefighters have been known as to a fireplace on White Horse Street in Croydon.
“Our 999 Management Officers have taken greater than 30 emergency calls.
“Crews from Croydon, Woodside, Wallington and surrounding stations are in attendance.
“Please keep away from the world. Extra information quickly.”
